A High-Performance Commercial Solar Installation in Rackheath

Our final commercial solar PV installation of 2025 was completed on the Rackheath Industrial Estate, rounding off a busy year of projects across Norfolk.

Project Overview

This was a large-scale commercial rooftop installation, designed to make full use of the available roof space on an industrial unit while maintaining safe access and compliance with all commercial regulations.

  • System size: 82.9 kWp

  • Panels installed: 182 high-efficiency solar panels

  • Inverter capacity: 80 kW three-phase commercial inverter

  • Estimated annual generation: 78,390 kWh

The array layout was carefully planned to follow the roof profile, ensuring optimal output while keeping loading and wind exposure within design limits.

Financial Performance

Commercial solar PV continues to offer some of the strongest returns on investment in the renewable sector. Based on current energy prices and usage assumptions, this system is forecast to deliver:

  • Estimated annual electricity savings: £9,991

  • Estimated payback period: 4 years and 9 months

  • Significant long-term savings once payback is achieved, with decades of low-cost electricity ahead

After payback, the system effectively generates free electricity for the business, protecting it from rising energy costs and improving long-term cash flow.

Why Solar Works for Commercial & Industrial Buildings

For businesses operating from warehouses, workshops, or industrial units, rooftop solar PV is particularly effective:

  • High daytime energy use aligns perfectly with solar generation

  • Large roof areas allow for meaningful system sizes

  • Reduced reliance on grid electricity during peak tariff periods

  • Lower operational costs and improved sustainability credentials

  • Minimal maintenance and long equipment warranties

Installing solar also future-proofs a business against energy price volatility while supporting carbon-reduction goals.

A Strong End to the Year

This installation marked a fitting close to 2025 a clean, well-executed commercial PV system that will deliver reliable performance for decades to come. From design through to installation and commissioning, the focus remained on quality, efficiency, and long-term value.
